AXIL Brands' Product Launch & Strong Liquidity: Buy or Hold?

Read MoreHide Full Article

AXIL Brands, Inc. (AXIL - Free Report) has gained 5.8% over the past year, while National Vision (EYE - Free Report) and Unilever (UL - Free Report) have fallen 36.7% and 7.9%, respectively. AXIL has also outperformed the sub-industry, which has edged down 0.6% during the same period.

With AXIL outperforming its sub-industry, investors may be assessing whether the stock has upside potential. The company's recently launched XCOR II earbuds, improving liquidity and a discounted valuation offer reasons for optimism. However, near-term revenue weakness and uncertainty surrounding the pace of recovery warrant a closer examination before making an investment decision.

XCOR II Launch Could Revive AXIL's Revenue Growth

AXIL Brands' next-generation XCOR II wireless earbuds could support a recovery in revenues following a challenging first-quarter fiscal 2027. Announced on Aug. 26, 2026, the product became available on Sept. 15. Initial orders rose from more than $2.8 million on Aug. 26 to more than $3.6 million by Sept. 30, with most of the backlog fulfilled by the end of September.

The launch comes at an important time for AXIL, whose consolidated revenues declined 11.2% year over year to $6.1 million in the August quarter. The decline partly reflected reduced purchases of first-generation XCOR products and the absence of a non-recurring big-box order recorded in the prior-year period. However, hearing-segment direct-to-consumer revenues fell less than 1%, indicating relative resilience in the company's core consumer sales channel.

AXIL also incurred approximately $360,000 in advertising expenses related to XCOR II before the new product began contributing revenues. As launch-related orders translate into recognized sales, the company could benefit from improved marketing efficiency and greater operating leverage. The pace of customer adoption and sustained demand beyond the launch period will be important in determining whether XCOR II can drive a durable recovery in the coming quarters.

Improving Cash Position Strengthens AXIL's Growth Prospects

AXIL's stronger liquidity provides greater flexibility to support product development, marketing initiatives and business expansion. The operating cash flow reached $3.8 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 against a cash outflow of $739,000 in the year-ago period. Cash balances increased to $7.9 million from $4.5 million as of May 31, 2026, while the company reported no outstanding borrowings.

Although the improvement in the operating cash flow was largely supported by receivables collections, the higher cash balance and absence of borrowings reduce immediate financial constraints. This positions AXIL to finance XCOR II commercialization while exploring opportunities beyond its primary hearing-products business.

The hair and skin care segment also showed encouraging momentum, with quarterly revenues increasing 11.5% year over year to $308,338. AXIL added three partners to support the planned global relaunch of Reviv3, retaining approximately 75% ownership in exchange for their services without requiring a cash investment. While the segment remains a relatively small contributor to consolidated revenues, the arrangement offers an opportunity to expand its market presence without placing additional pressure on liquidity.

AXIL's Discounted Valuation Offers Some Support

From a valuation standpoint, AXIL trades at a trailing 12-month enterprise value-to-EBITDA multiple of 9.54X, below the broader industry average of 12.64X. The discount suggests that the stock commands a lower valuation relative to its earnings base than the industry average.

Should Investors Buy or Hold AXIL Stock Now?

AXIL Brands presents a mixed investment picture. The XCOR II launch provides a potential catalyst for revenue recovery, supported by more than $3.6 million in initial orders as of Sept. 30, 2026. Improving liquidity, no outstanding borrowings and expansion opportunities within the hair and skin care segment strengthen the investment case. Its discounted EV/EBITDA multiple also offers some valuation support.

Nevertheless, the 11.2% decline in fiscal first-quarter revenues highlights the company's ongoing operating challenges. Initial XCOR II orders are encouraging, but sustained demand, stronger revenue recognition and improved profitability have yet to be demonstrated over subsequent quarters. Additionally, the recent improvement in the operating cash flow was substantially influenced by receivables collections, raising questions about the sustainability of cash generation at similar levels.

Given these considerations, holding on to the AXIL stock appears more prudent than aggressively buying at the current levels. Existing shareholders may consider retaining their positions to benefit from a potential XCOR II-driven recovery and the company's stronger financial position. Prospective investors, however, may prefer to wait for clearer evidence of sustained sales growth, improving margins and recurring operating cash generation before initiating a position.
